I also read The Constant Gardener by Le Carre and he has a common trait - all of his books start out confusing. You're fifty pages into the book and you have no idea what is going on, apart from the fact that the author has a truly beautiful way with words. And it's really nice to be reading a book that is pretty unpredictable. I strongly recommend reading TTSS along with watching the film, because it clears a lot of things up.

I was a bit shallow with TTSS in that I'm not really into spy things, I just wanted to see Benedict. But the Constant Gardener sounds fab.

I was so confused after the film I had to read the book. Oddly enough, I had no idea Benedict was in it when I went to see it. It is! I'd say the ending is an anticlimax only it's too perfect to call it that.
